It would have been hard to get very close with a macro -- you would have blocked the light. Well, maybe not with the Nikkor 60mm macro. Had to link it just to tease you. Then you'll start wanting a ring flash that slides around the outside of the lens.
I thought when I saw this on your other site that you had placed it in a shift of sunlight. Now I see I was wrong. Still a cool use of light, though. Love the shallow DOF, too.
